Facebook

FacebookWe’re now on Facebook! Yup, both of us “bit the bullet” and signed up on Facebook.  You can now follow both of us in a more personal way. Jim is listed as “James S. Null” and Phyllis is listed as “Phyllis Coyle Null“. So, if you’re on Facebook friend us and follow along.

And, to those who are already our Facebook friends  and catching up with our lives — and are wondering “Jim and Phyllis, missionaries? How did that happen?”  We both felt, even before we married back in 1975, that the Lord would use us in some way at some point in some kind of focused ministry.  We always thought it would be through a local church ministry – perhaps as an Education Director, pastor of Business Administration or something else.  We never expected that He would lead us to become missionaries.  We began missionary service about 7 years ago.

Our missionary role is one of supporting those on the front lines through CrossRoads Missions (www.crossroadsmissions.com).  Jim is the Director of Operations and I.T. person and Phyllis is in Administration.  We function kind of like those who make a church service happen, or the operation of a church happen, but for CrossRoads Missions.  Missionary service for us means that in the morning we might be dealing with an operational item, and that afternoon we may be heading out for hands on work somewhere – you just never know.

In addition, we have folks behind us who make it possible for us to serve in this capacity.  Our “behind the scenes team” starts first with our home church – Faith Bible Church in Cincinnati, OH and then extends out from there!  We have many who pray for us regularly, and another special group of prayer warriors we call our “Prayer Team’ to whom we send special prayer requests to.  We also have a “Financial Team” who provide the finances for our ministry.  In any given month there about 19 people and 1 church who regularly send donations to CrossRoads Missions for our ministry area.  Perhaps the Lord would lead you to partner with us either on our Prayer Team or our Financial Support Team – please let us know if so?

The Lord has also expanded our ministry to a global effort by partnering us with many different ministries worldwide where we provide them with web site help.  From the streets of Louisville, Kentucky to Korea, China, Albania, Africa and back to Louisville we have the pleasure of being able to work with many who are involved in the Cause of the Gospel.

Financial Update

The Lord continues to bless and provide for us through our Financial Support Team for which we are so grateful.  It is an amazing thing to live on the same income we started into mission work on about six or seven years ago.  That’s right, we have not had a single increase in our support income since we began. As the costs of living continue to rise, our available monthly amount gets smaller.  Beginning with March, our health insurance takes a huge increase of over $270  (increasing to $973 a month, two years ago it was only $550 a month.).   Our housing and health insurance amounts are now nearly 70% of our monthly expenses.  Only God can make funds meet ends like He continues to do for us!

CrossRoads Missions

2010 is shaping up to be another banner year for our Help Build Hope team. We have 19 events scheduled during the months of April, May and June.

Our team started off our 2010 calendar with a trip to Tampa, FL, our southern most build to date.  They  will hit the opposite extreme when they travel to Bismarck, ND in July.  They will return to the Philadelphia and Richmond, VA areas for our annual eastern extreme.  This year they are slated to travel to our most western event  to the Denver area.

Our team requests your prayers as they log many hours on the road pulling trailers.  Check out our event schedule and come by and help if they’re in your area.  If you are interested in setting up a fall build at your church, contact Andy at 502-410-4290.

Haiti

Our mission is considering how we might respond to the disaster in Haiti.  The church has responded in an amazing fashion to the immense need in all venues from medical to water provision, to transportation and rubble clean up.  Our mission is considering the need that will be there six to nine months after the quake.  We anticipate that there will still be thousands upon thousands of people without housing. We are currently in discussion with several other potential ministry partners where we can use our Help Build Hope program to panelize ready-to-go walls for compatible building on geography of Haiti.  Once shipped there, they’ll be constructed into housing within 5 or 6 days of their arrival.  This gives the church the ability to respond to the need and be face-to-face in a long-term way to help with the even greater spiritual need!  Pray with us that this opportunity gels together for CrossRoads Missions and our new partners.

Lord bless… Jim and Phyllis
