Congratulations!

Congratulations to our daughter Elizabeth Turner and husband Matt on the birth of their daughter Charity Elizabeth Turner.  Pictured to the right – Charity was born on May 15th, 2012 at 3:36 am at 19 1/4 inches and 6 lbs 13 oz.

Creative Ministry Fundraising

One of the activities for raising revenue we undertake here at CrossRoads Missions is embroidery. Embroidery, and silk screening, benefits partnering ministries in that we can provide them with great custom apparel at extremely affordable costs. For us – it helps us cover our operating costs. We’ve literally been able to cover the costs for our facilities lease, electricity and other operating costs the last couple of months from projects such as this! It’s a huge enabler as funds for operating costs can now go to direct ministry needs.

Let us know if your ministry or church has a need for something special. We now even have sources where we can purchase clothing and other goods to help lower the cost of the end item.

VIDEO: Here’s a video of Phyllis recently working the sewing machine for staff clothing for Still Water Camp. She was surprised – I’m sure you can tell – by the roving camera!

Help Build Hope

In April we were on site at the CrossRoads Missions Help Build Hope event in Mason, OH.  700 volunteers from the Church at Mason gathered on their parking lot on a storm-clouded Saturday morning.  Ministry started at 8am and by 1pm, when the rains showed up, walls for six homes had been built and loaded on semi trucks.  Some of the homes went to Alabama, and some to Louisiana.  Pictured here is one of the homes in Shreveport being finalized by the Fuller Center.  The Fuller Center’s mission statement is: “The Fuller Center for Housing, faith-driven and Christ-centered, promotes collaborative and innovative partnerships with individuals and organizations in an unrelenting quest to provide adequate shelter for all people in need worldwide.” . You can read more about them at their web site at http://www.fullercenter.org.

Appalachia Ministry Field

The last week of June we’ve been tagged to spend at our Appalachia Field.  Our Field Director, CJ, needs to be away this week so we’ve volunteered to camp out there, along with our 2012 interns.  It’s actually a non-project week for this field.  Thus something we can handle!  We’re looking forward to being on site.  Phyllis has yet to visit our Appalachia field so this will be here first experience on the grounds of our ministry field in the Maytown, KY area.

Personal Stuff

Phyllis: Phyl completed her studies earlier this year and is now a Certified Health Specialist and a Certified Nutritional Counselor.  We’re excited about the doors these credentials will open for her as the Lord provides her with opportunities to use her knowledge and skills.  Very excited that these gifts may also help provide some financial support for us as we continue to minister with CrossRoads Missions.  Financial need is always before us as folks struggle to make ends meet, and thus donations to our ministry work are impacted.

Jim: Jim’s fundraising bike ride for the pro-life organization A Woman’s Choice / Necole’s Place is coming up on Saturday, June 16th.  To date we have received $635 in sponsorship donations!  There is still time to sponsor this bike ride either by mailing a check to us, or A Woman’s Choice or going online to this link.  If donating, please be sure to indicate “For Jim Null’s Bike Ride” with your donation.  That way they’ll be able to total the donations so we get a final number.

Closing

Thank you for all of your help and support in the work we do through CrossRoads Missions.  Without your prayer support, encouragement and financial faithfulness to our ministry we simply could not be here to do what we do.
