Ministry Updates
Teen Convention
Jim participated in the Tennessee Christian Teens Convention for a four day weekend. More than 3000 teens attended the convention. CrossRoads Missions was there to help lead between 600 – 700 teens in framing up two houses. Jim was given the responsibility of leading three groups during each of the two sessions of house building. One of his three groups, consisting of 7 boys about 14 years of age, showed up without an adult sponsor. Jim adopted them and served as their team leader for the session. What an eager group of young men they turned out to be, completing their wall quicker than any of the other groups under Jim’s leadership.
Huge Donation
Jim represented CrossRoads in receiving a donation of nearly 900 elementary school tables and chairs from a county school system in Virginia. CrossRoads will distribute them to several Christian schools of need, including the Christian schools we are engaged in helping in Mexico.
Apparel
Phyllis continues to provide embroidery services for CrossRoads and other ministries. We now have the capability to embroider ball caps and soon will be sewing nearly 120 for a ministry in New Orleans. Pray with us as we consider the possibility of adding printed t-shirts to this ministry service. This work provides needed apparel resources for a variety of purposes that results in ministry cost savings of more than 50% — and also provides a venue to create revenue for ongoing ministry work.

- No mechanical issues with our minivan during the trip (and after!).
- Expenses for the trip.
- Effectiveness in ministering.
- Opportunities to share our faith in Jesus.
- Effectiveness when the Father provides opportunities to share our faith.
We are expecting our travel expenses for the Mexico trip to be around $600. We also are accepting donations of a variety of items from tooth paste, band aids, vitamins and other over-the-counter items. Donations of material items can be sent to our home address (Jim and Phyllis Null, 7205 Gorham Way, Louisville, KY, 40291). After Mexico
A few weeks after we return from Mexico Phyllis will be heading to urban Chicago for a week of ministry activity where CrossRoads Missions has partnered with The Rock Church. CrossRoads is helping provide renovation and ministry activity in converting a former Convent into church offices and Sunday School class rooms! Phyllis will be sharing a report on this ministry trip in our next eNewsletter!
Web Site Ministry
Jim has begun work on a web site for Jeffersontown Bible Church. JBC is where we are attending church – a new church work that is only about 7 months old. You can see the current site at www.jtownbible.org.
Work will soon begin for another church in Olney, IL and also for a global missions ministry based in Texas.
2007 Ministry Theme
Be Thou My Vision†is CrossRoads Missions 2007 ministry theme for all mission trips. Crossroads has always stressed the importance of living a lifestyle of worship rather than compartmentalizing our lives into categories such as musical worship, physical labor, evangelism, church, school, business, etc. We believe that all these aspects are important, but they can lose their importance when they are not unified under the greater vision of a life lived to glorify God.
Far too often we get caught in the trap of calling a time of singing worship and praise songs, “worshipâ€. This has the destructive end of subtly implying that the rest of our lives therefore are something else. The devotional material this year takes some of these songs of worship and breaks them down and hopefully imbues them with a new life, a freshness. Then, while we are freshly filled with a desire to worship God, we will discuss what worship is, what we have made it, and what it looks like from a Biblical perspective.
Closing
It takes many to make it possible for someone to serve in missionary service. There are four very important groups of people who have stood with us in ministry on a regular ongoing basis for the past five years:
- Our Prayer Team,
- Our Financial Support Team which is comprised of everyone who has, at some point, helped by providing finances for our ministry,
- Our Small Group from Faith Bible Church in Cincinnati, and,
- The Missions Committee at Faith Bible Church in Cincinnati.
We feel we fall very short in expressing our appreciation to you – for the ministry you provide enabling us to partner with CrossRoads Missions. So to all of you we publicly express our appreciation for spending time on your knees in prayer, for giving of your finances and time, for holding fast to us, encouraging us, and lifting us up, for phone calls, letters and those “little surprises†you send in the mail. Thank you for expressing your love of the Father in the ways that you have!
Serving With You Because of Him,
Jim and Phyllis
