Update :: Cincinnati

The last weekend of June we were in Cincinnati to give a report on our ministry with CrossRoads Missions. We held an “open house” at Faith Bible Church. Folks were invited to stop in to hear and see information on our ministry, and to participate in a hands-on build of one wall – sort of a “Help Build Hope One-Wall Demonstration”. About 25 folks showed up for the Saturday afternoon event.

Below are photos, provided by Lyle Kelly, of the wall build. The wall was framed outside of the church building, and then carried in to the foyer and placed behind our display table on Saturday. On Sunday morning we were delighted to greet many folks, and chat with new acquaintances before and after services.

Thank you to everyone who helped prepare and make this presentation and time of sharing happen, especially to Faith Bible Church (the Missions Committee, the Trustees, Rick Bush and Lyle Kelly), and to Matt and Elizabeth Turner, Emily and Steve Hamm and Justin and Katie Null and Judy Kirkpatrick!

Below are some photographs of the wall demo build compliments of Lyle Kelly.

What Happens When Someone Uses Their “Giftedness” for Christ

Our individual “giftedness” comes in many forms. There is the spiritual giftedness that every Believer has, given to us by the Father as He chooses, for the building up of the church.

Then there is the kind of giftedness that is either a skill or trade or even a hobby. This kind of giftedness is generally something we enjoy doing and participating in. So what happens when someone who loves to bike uses that giftedness in a practical way as an offering of service to Christ? They end up pedaling their bike across and around Indiana. Funds raised from this activity were donated to CrossRoads Missions.

Personal Stuff

  • We are standing by as July 29th approaches — the expected date for grand baby #2. Join us in praying for Steve, Emily and Isaac (grand baby #1) as this special day approaches.
  • Jim has entered into a partnership with Missionary TECH Team in helping to provide web site help and development for ministries. This partnership helps expand TECH’s ability to provide web sites as a ministry service, and will help expand our ministry in doing so as well.
  • Erika is enrolled in college! She is scheduled to begin her studies at Sullivan University here in Louisville in September. She’ll continue living at home, working lots of hours at Walgreen’s while she begins her studies in Business Management towards and Associates Degree. She continues to make adjustments in her medication for her epilepsy. This past Friday she had three very serious seizures in about four hours. This resulted in her Dr. directing us to take her to the hospital. We spent about 4 hours there as they attended to her, and through drugs that caused her to sleep, the seizure activity was abated. She is now on full doses of two kinds of meds. Appointment w/ her Dr. is this Monday to think through “what’s next”.
  • This past Sunday one of our pastors at Jeffersontown Bible Church, our new church plant here in Louisville, announced that they were returning to full time missionary service based in Spain. We’ll miss the Groves much and are grateful for their service in getting things going! Please continue to uphold the church, its leadership and the Groves in your prayers.

Thank you for your prayer and financial support that make it possible for us to serve in ministry with CrossRoads Missions. A day does not pass that we do not express our thankfulness for the same to our Father. Please do not hesitate to let us know how we can be praying for you!
