November Missionary Convention

November 14th – 18th CrossRoads Missions staff participated in the National Missionary Convention. This is a large, once a year convention that rotates amongst several cities. This year it was held at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati! CrossRoads Missions provided teen NMC and youth activities which included worship (in word and song) and the framing of the equivalent of 10 homes. Part of the framed walls will be taken to CrossRoads Missions ministry site in Piedras Angular in Mexico. The remaining walls will be provided to a ministry named Rio Bravo that is currently developing dormitories. Nearly 1,000 teenagers and youth participated with us on Friday and Saturday! Visit this link http://www.jimnull.com/shows/NMC/ to view a video slideshow of pictures taken during this event. A wide variety of mission-related organizations also participated. One ministry named “Kids Against Hunger” packaged 140,000 meals for distribution. Another activity of the convention was the collection of many pounds of clothing for ministries in Haiti.

Off to New Orleans

Jim was off to our ministry offices in New Orleans at the end of November. He traveled with four other travelers in a large van. Leaving at 4 a.m. in the morning they were in New Orleans 12 hours later.

imageCrossRoads Missions is fervently seeking out a new operating facility for our New Orleans team. Today we are located in a former Church/Christian school building. As part of our search for a new campus we are speaking with a non-profit organization and the city of New Orleans about leasing the former Milne Boys Home. This facility features several buildings, a gym and about 14.5 acres of land. If our offices are able to relocate to this location greater possibilities of engaging the community in service and ministry will become possible. These opportunities will result in open doors for sharing the Good News! Pray with us about this opportunity.

A video/slideshow of our current facility can be seen online at http://www.jimnull.com/shows/OurFacility/ and a video/slideshow of the Milne Boys Home can be seen online at http://www.jimnull.com/shows/Milne/.

There remains a tremendous amount of work from the hurricane and flooding to do, especially in the city of New Orleans and immediate area. To accomplish what needs to be done may take decades! The city is now bankrupt, thus all city services are impacted including the public school system. With the population not moving back into the area tax revenues are way below what is needed to maintain basic services. Some communities in Newimage Orleans are as low as 5% of their pre-hurricane populations. Many businesses also have not returned.

Visit our New Orleans online video/slideshow at http://www.jimnull.com/shows/NewOrleans/ for additional information and commentary on the current status of New Orleans.

The good news is that the church has done, and continues to do, a great job in providing help! This includes the work and ministry of CrossRoads Missions and countless others. To date more than 7500 people have gone on short-term mission work with CrossRoads Missions in New Orleans!

Web Site Activity

Jim recently completed a web site for RBM Ministries. This is a wonderful ministry engaged in sharing the Gospel with school-age children in Michigan. You can visit their web site at www.rbmministries.org.

We have also gifted a web site to Lanny and Stacey Groves. Lanny is one of the co-pastors at our church here in Louisville, Jeffersontown Bible Church. They will be leaving us in early 2008 as they make preparation to return to missionary work in Rota, Spain. You can check out their web site by going to www.grovesupdate.com.

And, most recently, Jim has taken over the management of www.heart-sounds.org. Heart Sounds International is a ministry of Operation Mobilization USA. Heart Sounds International promotes worship predominantly in the non-western world by providing services in audio and video production, training and teaching, and song writing workshops.

South East Asia

We’ve been providing web site help to a mission organization for nearly a year and a half. This organization is engaged in providing missionary work throughout Asia and in Europe. They have graciously provided funds for Jim to attend a conference in Southeast Asia and participate in their information technology sessions. We’re very excited about this new door of opportunity that the Lord has provided us! We’ll be sending you additional details with our January newsletter as to travel dates, needs and prayer support. Please note: specifics have been withheld for safety reasons!

Personal Updates

Phyllis continues to provide important help through her giftedness in administration and organization at CrossRoads Missions. We have also begun to branch out with our service of embroidering apparel to other ministries and organizations. She has recently embroidered more than 30 shirts for a church in Indiana, ball caps for a ministry in New Orleans and even some items for a high school! The expansion of this resource in these areas serves as a fund raiser that helps us purchase tools and other resources used in our front-line ministry work. Pray with us for the continued expansion of Phyllis’ ministry area within CrossRoads Missions and within our local community.

Erika is nearing the completion of her first term in college. We’re excited to see her progress and most recently very excited about a $1,000 grant she has received from the state of Kentucky. She has also been working through another medication change for her epilepsy. In the past 9 weeks she has had only one seizure! Continue to pray with us for healing by medication or by divine gifting.

Jim has begun to address some long overdue health concerns. We hope that the next time you see him he’ll look just a bit thinner. His next medical review is in April of 2007. He has several very aggressive goals to accomplish by then. Pray with us for perseverance on his part in this area.

Celebrating the Birth of Christ
