Southeast Asia
We are very excited about the opportunity that Jim has to go to Southeast Asia to participate in an annual missions conference. A mission organization that Jim has been providing web site help to for about 18 months, is providing a scholarship for Jim to attend. They will be covering Jim’s air fare and hotel and meals. Jim is scheduled to leave Louisville on the morning of Thursday, February 14th and arrive in his destination very early on Saturday, February 16th. He is scheduled to be back to Louisville on Sunday morning, February the 24th.
Enroute Jim will be laying over in Seoul, Korea for a few hours. During his layover he’ll be meeting with Bill Meyers who is the director of a ministry in Korea. They’ll be meeting to discuss the possibility of a web site for that ministry. Bill Meyers is a close friend of one of our Pastors at our church here in Louisville, Jeffersontown Bible Church. Thus the layover is a good opportunity to chat about the possibilities in providing web site help to another ministry.
During the Conference Jim will also have the privilege of conducting a workshop titled “Ministry Websites”.
We have never actually met the folks behind many of the ministries we provide web site help too. Our contact with some is exclusively via email, and sometimes, though rarely, via telephone. This opportunity enables Jim to meet face-to-face, the many missionaries and individuals he’s been serving through web site help.
January will be Jim’s prep month for this trip, which includes preparing for the workshop, a visit to the doctor to discuss any needed immunizations, acquiring travel health insurance, etc.
We’re estimating that our direct expenses for this trip will be around $500. Please let us know if you’d like to participate in helping with the overall cost of this trip. We will forward any donated funds we receive that are in excess of our direct expenses to the mission to help defray our scholarship costs. If you desire a receipt for your donation please send them to us through your local church as a special offering where you church can send us a check directly for the mission trip. If a receipt is not needed, you may simply just mail us a check indicating that the donation is for this trip! Our mailing address is at the close of this letter.
New Ministry Field
With the New Year CrossRoads Missions initiates a new field of ministry – our Inner-City Field. Our ministry in the inner city will focus on the cities of Louisville, KY and Chicago, IL. In Louisville we have partnered with the Jefferson Street Baptist Center, and, in Chicago we continue our partnership with The Rock Church and Circle Urban Ministries. Our ministry effort will be led by a Field Director and Field Coordinator who will both be new CrossRoads Missions staff members. One of our goals is to help enable the restoration and presence of the church in the inner city. Visit our web site at www.crossroadsmissions.com for details on this new ministry opportunity.
Christology ’08
In addition to launching a new ministry field with 2008, we also launched our ministry theme – Christology ’08! Our web site “look” has been updated to reflect the New Year’s theme. Christology ’08 explores what life should look like for a Christ-follower? The purpose of this study is to help those who minister with CrossRoads Missions, who participate in our various ministry fields, to be rooted and built up in Christ and to better know Christ. By spending time each morning with the Word, which is Christ, they will be encouraged and strengthened. Our hope is that this will lead them to respond to God in ways that please Him, honor Him and bring glory to Him.
Serving With You Because of Him …
