Compassion, Justice and the Christian Life

compassionTo the right is an image of a book titled Compassion, Justice and the Christian Life. Rob, the director of CrossRoads Missions, distributed copies of this book to all of our staff as part of our implementing our Inner-City Ministry field beginning in 2008.

Phyllis and I have both finished reading through this book and want to recommend that you get a copy of it to read through. It is available at your local Christian bookstore or online at a discount price through CBD (here). The author has challenged us to re-consider a lot of our thinking as it relates to how we live our Christian life — especially in a materialistic culture. He has some profound examples of how we should respond to the world around us, especially “to the least of these”

Southeast Asia Mission Conference

Please join us in praying for the conference that Jim will be attending in Southeast Asia this month. Pray for safety in travel for Jim and his effectiveness as he meets people of other nationalities in sharing and presenting the life-style of following Christ. Pray for all other conference attendees and their influence in the city where the conference is being held. Jim’s travel schedule to and from Southeast Asia is listed below. More details of this trip can be read in last months eNewsletter posting which can be found here. We also extend our great appreciation to the trip sponsors and to those who have made special donations towards making this opportunity possible!

Ministry Web Site Update

At the end of January Jim implemented a new web site design and presence for the Fern Creek Highview United Ministries (FCHUM). FCHUM is a not-for-profit social service agency founded in 1988 by 10 local churches in the Louisville, Kentucky area. A group of representatives from 10 different churches met and made a commitment to move beyond their denominational ties to work together to meet the needs of the community. FCHUM is currently supported by 20 churches representing 12 different denominations working together, making many significant contributions within the community on a daily basis. You can visit their new web site by following this link.
