Over There?

In our meetings with various groups and churches throughout our short years of serving in missions we are often asked “what country do you serve in”?  We respond with all of the countries where we’ve been able to influence or enable the cause of sharing the Gospel – from the United States to China, to Europe and back.  The first question is followed by another, “No, I mean what country do you live in overseas?”.  We’ve learned that most U.S. folks have the mindset that mission work happens only “over there”.  As such, it is very difficult to build a financial support team around mission work that is based here in the U.S. or is based in supporting those who are on the frontlines of mission work.   This past month I read Doug and Faith Clark’s newsletter that had an interesting bit of information in it that goes as follows: ” You may also ask “do we really need missionaries in the US?”  Consider this question.  “What is 50,000 miles long, circles the earth two times, and grows longer by more than a mile each day?” The answer – The line of people in the US who are in no way touched by the outreach of any church!  This is just one of many current statistics that Doug shared with the church to help them realize that there is a great need for Jesus in North America.” [Doug is the Executive Director of the Association of North American Missions, www.anamissions.org.]  The”work” of missions is everywhere, and the need is as great here in the U.S., and sometimes in our own backyards, as it is “over there”.

Web Site Ministry Updates

Jim is finishing up two web sites.  One of them is for Whispering Winds Bible Camp whose web site you can visit by going to wwbccamp.com.  The other is a web site for Peachtree Arts Academy at peachtreearts.org.  It’s been a busy month of providing web site help to quite a few of our web site partners.  Work continues on a very special section of the web site for Mission to Unreached Peoples that we hope will come to fruition within the next month.  CrossRoads Missions has also implemented a web site help offering through the mission using Jim’s efforts to help churches, ministries and other organizations develop a web presence.  We’re excited about this new offering through our own mission organization as it will help extend our effectiveness even further for the cause of the Gospel!

Equipment Needs

We need to acquire a new office computer and portable drive for Jim’s use at the mission offices.  Because of the expense, and the tight finances of the mission, this is something we just cannot at this time afford to purchase through the mission, or purchase ourselves.  The cost is roughly $629.   By having this desktop computer Jim will be able to discontinue carrying his own laptop computer to and from the mission offices daily.  This will also help make it possible for him to even ride his bike to and from the offices (which will further help us reduce our personal expenses by saving the cost of gasoline by not driving a car).  If you are able to donate to this purchase please mail your donation as follows: CrossRoads Missions, ATTENTION: Jim Null, 3231 Ruckriegel Parkway, Suite 111, Louisville, KY, 40299.  Or, if you prefer to purchase this hardware directly and send it along for our use please let us know and we’ll send you the details.

Mission Offices

Please update your records if you have not already done so!  Our mission offices relocated in September and our new mailing address for correspondence and donations is: CrossRoads Missions, 3231 Ruckriegel Parkway, Suite 111, Louisville, KY, 40299.

Visits

We were delighted to spend a Friday afternoon with Bill and Terri Schinkal, friends from Cincinnati, Ohio this October.  Bill is the Communications Manager for the SW Ohio / NE Kentucky Division of The Salvation Army.  Please know that we’d love to have you stop in for a visit.  Just let us know your schedule so that we can arrange ours accordingly.  Please feel free to even spend the night!

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for our staff at CrossRoads Missions that the Lord would deepen our personal walks with Him calling us to live as followers of Christ in a world that is very much opposed to the Gospel.
  • Pray for our director, Rob Minton, as he carries much responsibility at this time guiding the mission through some difficult financial times.
  • Pray for us as we consider a possible mentoring role with a partner mission organization.
  • Continue to pray that the Lord would use our gifts and skills to expand our influence for the cause of Christ.
  • Please pray for these special folks whom we serve through web site help ministry: Marilyn and Paul Barnes, Virginia and Gerry Armstrong, and the following ministries: High Touch Ministry, Outstretched Arms, Blackstone Institute, Bless China, Mission to Unreached Peoples and William White (ministering in Haiti).
  • Our pastor, Larry Duncan, will be traveling to Russia to teach pastors in Siberia. Pray for safety in travel, effectiveness in teaching and safety for his family here at home.

Thank you for partnership with us making it possible for us to serve as staff missionaries with CrossRoads Missions.  Your partnership with us extends your own personal ministry to the many folks we are able to help and enable through the work the Lord has trusted us with.

Lord bless – Jim and Phyllis
