It’s Everywhere

We just can’t escape hearing news about our national and individual financial picture.  Our mission work and ministry is not an exception.

We have been operating under a huge debt load from issues created in our New Orleans ministry field in the summer of 2008.  We have reduced that debt load by nearly 1/3 since September of 2008 – PTL.  In recent staff meetings we have developed and are praying_manimplementing a plan to put a plea before the top ten or so churches who have been major participants with CrossRoads Missions for help in the way of gifts and/or no interest loans.  We ask that you join us in praying about this very serious financial position.   Please consider helping in anyway you can as we seek how the Lord will guide us and answer our needs.

As for our personal ministry financial support – we are hearing from some of our supporters how today’s economics are impacting them.  Our own ministry financial support is in jeopardy as folks do not have extra funds to partner with us.  We also are asking those who receive this newsletter who are not part of our financial support team to consider participating in whatever way they can.  Any contribution to our personal ministry support, no matter the size, is very very needed.  Single donations, or regular monthly donations, may be mailed to CrossRoads Missions, 3231 Ruckriegel Parkway, Suite 111, Louisville, KY, 40299.

We extend our deepest thanks and appreciate to those who are, and have been, financial partners with our mission and ministry!

Help Build Hope

We are scheduled for two Help Build Hope events in March.   One event is here in Fern Creek (Louisville, KY) where we live.  The second event is in Mason, Ohio at Christ Church.

hope_logo_100The Help Build Hope program is our shortest short-term mission event where we engage a church or organization on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning.  Saturday is the biggest day where the entire church is invited to meet with us in the parking lot to frame up walls for a home.  At times the church will keep the walls and finish the house out completely as a ministry effort, other times the walls are taken to one of our ministry fields, or given to the Fuller Center or Habitat for Humannity.  Help Build Hope is a single effort where a whole church can be involved in mission, ministry and worship through service.  Without exception, the result of this activity is that the Gospel is shared where it might not normally be shared!

This program is also feeling the affects of the economy. Because of the down turn in funding for our partners there are fewer and fewer opportunities where we can place the walls that are constructed.  Without being able to place the walls, we are unable to provide the opportunity for a church to minister in this capacity.  This is another need for serious focused prayer, not only for the affect of this ministry, but also for the sustainability of the mission (as we do receive some proceeds from this effort that us cover our monthly operating expenses).

So What’s the Good News

With all of the “bad” news about the economy, our personal support and the mission’s debt burden – just what is the good news.  The Good News is the same – God is not shaken by any of this.  He ordains our paths, directs our hearts and enables us to do things beyond our imagination with whatever resources He chooses to provide.  Why should we be shaken when the God whom we worship and serve is not!

Please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can pray for you – at any time!

Lord bless… Jim and Phyllis
