AN UPDATE ON JIM

Jim’s recovery is going quite well for which we give God the praise!  Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer for his health.

All of his road rash is now gone with some of it leaving some handsome scars.  His bruises are completely gone except for those on the palm of his broken left hand.  His sprain ankle is such that he is able to walk up to a mile now.  And of course all of the stitches are now out.  All that remains is his left hand still in a cast.  He is schedule to visit his hand/surgeon doctor on August 5th for a progress update.  We are anticipating that they will give him a smaller cast so that he can begin moving his finger joints.  Then perhaps another week or two after that visit they will remove the pins in his hand and then physical therapy for a time.

He has gotten speedy typing with his cast, though much slower than normal (very important for him as he spends much time on the keyboard with his mission work and for the web site ministry).  Included here is a picture that gives you a much better image graphically than we can provide with words.

Doctor’s are saying that it will be 2 to 6 months before he can once again get back to his bike riding exercise routine (Jim refers to this as his “war on diabetes”).

We are also so very grateful for our health insurance.  One of our financial support team families faithfully every month makes a contribution that provides for most of the cost of our health insurance.  As a result of the insurance, this accident, which looks like it will end up costing $20,000 to $25,000 once all said and done, will cost us only the deductible portion.  This means our total financial obligation for medical costs will be  around $2,500 – most being from this event.  PTL!  We also send our deepest thanx to that supporting family for this practical gift to our ministry.

MISSION NEWS

One of the great pleasures of ministry is being able to partner with other ministries to accomplish the common goal of sharing Jesus.  Feed the Children is one such ministry (www.feedthechildren.org).

CrossRoads Missions recently was able to receive and help distribute a semi-load of goods from Feed the Children (pictured to the left).  The cost to process and transport the donation was covered by a local church.  We then picked up the donation and received some of the goods for our ministry use such as paper items, cleaning supplies, and snack foods.  Then the resources of the local church were put into action to help move these materials through 29 other non-profit ministries in the immediate area!

WEB SITE MINISTRY

We recently moved a web site ministry project to live on the Internet for the Global CHE Network (www.chenetwork.org).  CHE stands for Community Health Evangelism.  Jim is actually working on two additional websites in conjunction with this one (which we will be sharing with you about in the future).  This ministry is a global ministry that uses health education and training as a tool towards evangelism.  Their web site is full of information and details on how to do so, including, once you become a member, hundreds of documents that can be used as training and teaching tools.  Membership is currently at no cost!.  The video embedded below gives you a snap shot of some of the ministry work and results of the efforts of those engaged in CHE.

We’re very excited about this ministry and the tools and resources they provide to help enable front line workers in their efforts to serve the cause of Christ.

IN CLOSING

We cannot thank you enough for all of your prayer and care in the last month.  Jim’s accident created quite a stir in our house and we’re happy to say, that because of God, his recovery is happening much faster than we expected.  Thank you for spending time with the Father on our behalf, for our health, for our finances and for our ministry.

Lord bless… Jim and Phyllis
