Praying for the Village of Lockland

On the morning of Saturday, June 22nd, 13 people gathered at Veteran’s Park (Wyoming and Williams St.) to walk and pray for the residents and Village of Lockland.  Represented in the 13 was Don Stowell, minister of Lockland Christian Church, Jim and Phyllis Null, co-directors of the Metanoia Center in Lockland, four others from Faith Bible Church and seven from Young Life!

We arrived about 9:40 am, stepped out of our cars and the rain stopped. We finished about 12:10 pm and returned to our cars, and the rain re-started.  We prayed as we walked the streets of the Village of Lockland south of Wyoming Avenue and east of Interstate 75.  Armed with a bullet-list of items to pray for, and asking those we met on the way how we could pray for them, this team spent just over 2 hours in focused prayer!  The prayer walkers prayed for Lockland’s government, fire and police, the schools leadership, teachers, volunteers and students, for businesses to return to the vacant spaces of the village, for the safety of Lockland’s residents, for the battle that rages in the spiritual realm, and more.

Next Ministry Activity

Our next summer ministry event begins in the afternoon on July 3rd when the students of Faith Bible Church (FBC) gather to begin “stuffing” door knob hangers with New Testaments and brochures.  The brochures will feature upcoming courses in Faith & Finances, and the fall 2019 Good News Club, as well as this fall’s Grief Journeys Seminar.

On Tuesday, July 9th, the students will gather in Lockland to go door to door hanging the door knob hangers at every residence.   Others will be praying as the students walk the same neighborhoods where the above Prayer Walk occurred on June 22!

Thank you — we have received over 600 New Testaments for this summer’s activity!  We expect to pass out nearly 500 on July 9th!

FBC Student Ministries will also be ministering at Friendship Park in Lockland with bouncies, activities and a cookout on Thursday evening July 11th!

Next Prayer Walk

On Friday, July 26th we’ll gather at the rear parking lot of Lockland Christian Church, 231 Mill St., Lockland at 4 pm.Those who gather will be divided into three teams for an evening Prayer Walk in the same neighborhood mentioned above.  Teams will have a bullet list of prayer items to take along with them as the stop and pray, and stop and pray with anyone in the community for prayer.  Prayer teams will also pass out to every address a printed invitation to join us for a neighborhood cookout.

At 6:30 pm the neighborhood cookout will begin on the rear parking lot of Lockland Christian Church.  We are also inviting all of the Village of Lockland’s government officials, police and fire service members to drop by for food.

The Metanoia Center will be providing a grill master, with a smoker, to smoke and grill for the neighborhood cookout.

Village of Lockland Churches and Ministries

You are invited to join us by setting up a table on the parking lot of Lockland Christian Church!  Here is other ways you can help:

  • Show up – join in!
  • Donate cookout goods – such as beef hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, baked beans, fried chicken, 2 liters of “coke” and water. Or purchase a Kroger’s gift card and donate that and we’ll get the goods! Please – no pork items only chicken or beef.

In Closing

As we close out this newsletter we ask that you pray about the activities listed in it AND consider joining in by participating as a prayer walker, showing up, donating food or drinks or gift cards, praying if you can’t be there – help us share the love of Christ!
