Training for Local and Community Missions

When you receive this letter we’ll be making final preparations for 2 days of training in Nashville, TN with the Chalmer’s Institute.  For the past month we’ve been taking online classes to prepare us to become facilitators of Work Life.  The time in Nashville will be the final steps to receive our certification.

The Chalmers Center trains churches and ministries in Work Life, a biblically integrated job preparedness curriculum designed specifically for people from backgrounds of generational poverty. In addition to practical job skills, the curriculum empowers participants to recognize that God is at work in the world and that their jobs are a way of participating in that work.

We are very grateful for our donors and supporters, and to those who have financially gifted the Metanoia Center, to make this training and certification possible!  The potential this resource has in our town, and it’s surrounding neighborhoods, is huge.  We’re very excited to add this offering to the Metanoia Center’s, and our own, catalog of equipping and training tools.

On Mission in Our Community

  • Saturday, June 22nd – we are sponsoring a Prayer Walk in the Budd Town area of the Village of Lockland.  Join us by meeting at Veteran’s Park at 9:45 am (the Walk begins at 10am).  Veterans Park is located at the corner of Wyoming Avenue and Williams St. in the Village of Lockland.  You’ll find plenty of on street parking along Williams St.
  • Tuesday, July 9th – we’ll be returning to the Budd Town area of the Village of Lockland to pass out approximately 500 New Testaments.  Faith Bible Church Student Ministries will, once again, assist us with this effort.  We are extending an invitation to churches and those receiving this newsletter to join us! You can also join in this effort by donating a box or two of New Testaments.  Orders for New Testaments can be placed here and shipped directly to our house at 316 Home Ave., Lockland, OH, 45215.  Boxes of 50 or more New Testaments receive a significant discount!  We’ll gather at Veteran’s Park at the corner of Wyoming and Williams and begin at 5pm.
  • Thursday, July 11th – we’ll be working with Faith Bible Church Student Ministries in the Village of Lockland for a park activity for kids and youth at Friendship Park (on Wyoming at the railroad crossing entering the city of Wyoming).  We’ll begin at 4pm.  This activity will include hotdogs and burgers.   Local churches are invited to participate with us.
  • Friday, July 26th – we will return to the Budd Town area of the Village of Lockland for a second Prayer Walk at 4:00 pm.   We will also be passing out invitations door-to-door for residents to join us at a Community Cookout.  The Cookout will be held on Lockland Christian Church’s parking lot at 6:30 pm.
    • Here is how YOU can help!

      • If your church is in the Village of Lockland or Arlington Heights – announce this date and activity to your congregation praying every Sunday leading up to this event!
      • Show up – join in!
      • Donate cookout goods – such as beef hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, baked beans, fried chicken, 2 liters of “coke” and water. Or purchase a Kroger’s gift card and donate that and we’ll get the goods! Please – no pork items only chicken or beef.
      • Churches from the Village of Lockland and Arlington Heights are invited to set up a display and pass out literature – yes, that’s right – set up a display sharing about your church at the cookout!

Pray With Us

  • Please pray with us for the 4 events listed above.
  • Pray for our fall Faith & Finances partnership with Lincoln Heights Outreach.
  • Pray for donors to help maintain and grow our personal finances and for the Metanoia Center.   We are over-the-top grateful for those who regular sacrifice by donating their finances to enable our work in global, local and community missions!
