CrossRoads Missions
This month the Mission received a most wonderful gift from one of Louisville’s partnering churches – hundreds of soccer jerseys, shorts and socks! Our ministry field in Mexico works with a local Christian school whose students are very much “into” soccer. Thus all of these youth and adult soccer goods will be heading south as a gift for use by the school, their students and for outreach into the community.
The containers of clothing were sorted by several of the Missions ladies into sizes and then are being re-packaged to be sent to Mexico the next time a group, or one of our vehicles/trailer, head that direction. This huge gift is not only practical as an outreach tool, but also is a gift that speaks to something very important in the lives of youth in Mexico – soccer!
The Mission uses embroidery as one of our fundraising tools where we embroider clothing, ball caps, etc., for churches and organizations for an unbelievable low fee. The proceeds from such work is used to help underwrite our operating costs. This past month we were blessed with being able to embroider 350 baseball caps: this work literally paid our rent for the month of September! Praise the Lord for His provision!
Jim continues to progress forward with the special Internet registration solution for the North West Haiti Christian Mission. He estimates that he is now 50% of the way to having the solution ready for testing!. The original goal was to have it operational by January 1, 2012. Due to adding some additional functionality it’ll take a bit longer … but progress is moving ahead very nicely.
Personal Updates
Caleb continues to grow! At this current writing he is over seven pounds and eight ounces. Thank you for continued prayer for him and his mom and dad. Your continued prayers towards his being weened from oxygen and his 24 hour monitor are much appreciated! And, his momma and daddy report that he is going to be a big brother!

Phyllis is back home from spending about 20 days in a row in Cincinnati. Sure is good to have her home! During her stay there someone backed into her car and crunched the front fender – and left the scene. And, of course, we dropped collision insurance on the car to reduce insurance costs. And, our mechanic has informed us that our minivan’s transmission is going out. It starts up in 2nd gear, and then labors upwards to others with bumps and jumps. All things considered, both cars have 160,000+/- miles on them, they’ve been very reliable under our ownership. At some point we’ll need to bite the bullet to replace at least one of them. Right now we’re praying that the Lord does to our cars what He did to the sandals of Israel as they wandered in the wilderness!
Ministry Web Site Partner
Check out the video below from Cedine Ministries! Cedine is a Bible camp in Tennessee where good friends, Bill and Peg Hendricks, from our home church in Cincinnati, Faith Bible Church, were full time missionaries for a period of time. Cedine is also one of our web site ministry partners. Such a great connection to us because of Bill and Peg … and such a great ministry.
In closing … we thank you for all of your prayers for us, for our little Caleb and his mom and dad – and for all that you do to enable our shared ministry in the Gospel.
