Community Summer Ministry

What an amazing month this July has been for summer ministry in the Village of Lockland.  We are overly grateful to those who came to invest in our Village and minister to our community – to those who came for prayer walks, cookouts, block parties and to pass out invitations and New Testaments – thank you, thank you, thank you!  We are praying for the seeds that you planted to be watered and to grow in the weeks and months to come!

There were several who made direct cash and gift card donations to help us cover Metanoia Center costs for these summer activities.  We also want to give you huge shout out and thank you for your financial partnership with us!

We visited the same neighborhood in our Village three times this summer.   Twice we prayer-walked the community, once we passed out New Testaments and invitations to upcoming trainings, block parties and fall Good News Club, and lastly we prayed and passed out invitations to join us for a Neighborhood Cookout.  Thank you to Faith Bible Student Ministries for your amazing help with prayer walks, passing out NTs and sponsoring a Park Cookout event where nearly 75 from the neighboring community joined us.  We were also delighted to have the Mayor stop by, and some of our men in blue!

Faith Bible Student Ministries Youth Park Event

More than 75 people joined us for the cookout on Friday evening, July 26th, that featured Grill Masters Jonathan Crisp and Jonathan Clapham (we can’t say enough about these two young men!).  As we ate, community members sat in the shade on this warm Friday night enjoying the company of neighbors.  Thank you to Lockland Christian Church for allowing us to use your parking lot, for helping purchase food and for your awesome crew that helped setup and cleanup!  We are very grateful as well to the evangelism team from Faith Bible Church and the Story Board they brought with them.

Then on Saturday, July 27th, a team from East Pickens Baptist Church in South Carolina came to help promote the upcoming September English as a Second Language Classes.  Their team partnered with the Metanoia Center with a Community Block Party held on the Lockland Schools playground!  Thank you East Pickens for your passion for Christ, and your compassion for people.  Thank you for coming to “our town” to help with the ESL effort.  As a result more than 100 joined us for the Block Party.  Prior to the block party teams canvassed Village neighborhoods where we know that West Africans and Spanish-Speakers live with invitations to participate in the block party and details about where and when the classes will be held!  We are so grateful to Brian, Rick and Isaiah who are local Cincinnati area leaders helping to enable the ESL classes.  We’ve been praying for over two years for ESL classes to be held in our Village – and now it is becoming a reality thanks to these men and their love for Christ.

Prayer List

We would like to engage you with the following list of prayer bullet points:

  • Pray for the upcoming ESL classes.  It is our desire that these classes become platforms for sharing the Hope that we have because of Jesus.
  • Pray for the seeds planted from July’s activities!   That these seeds will be watered, that they’ll sprout, and grow.
  • Pray for the upcoming Faith & Finances and Grief Journeys courses – praying with us that God will send those who need the resources offered by attending these venues.
  • Pray for growth in our personal ministry finances, and growth in the finances of the Metanoia Center.
  • Thank God with us for the amazing things he has done this summer – from holding off rain for our outdoor activities, to those we’ve been able to touch and have conversations with.
  • Pray for Jim as he prepares and leaves for a week in Guatemala with the Service Team from the Global CHE Network.
  • Pray for the next Board Meeting of the Metanoia Center which is next week on Monday, August 5th.
