Crazy Kids Concoctions and the 2nd Annual #LoveLockland Street Party

We spent four days, one which was a training day, hosting Crazy Kids Concoctions brought to the corner of Wayne and Walnut by Faith Bible Church Student Ministries.  In addition, New Life Church, Indianapolis sent a youth team to participate in a week long summer mission trip from Sunday through Saturday.   The combination of both church teams brought a huge amount of energy and help to the Metanoia Center.  The week was wrapped up on Friday night with the #LoveLockland Street Party!   We estimate that around 300 people attended this year’s Friday event.    About 30 area students, along with Faith Bible and New Life churches, attended each Crazy Kids Concoctions night. Photos can be viewed on Facebook at this link.    Thank you to the numerous volunteers who came and worked, trimmed trees, cleaned up alleys, walked the community, prayed, picked up trash, set up tables, cooked hotdogs, hugged on neighbors, endured summer heat and humidity and more during this week’s special focus on loving the Village of Lockland and those who live, work, and worship here.

Phase 1

Phase 1 – Making a Home for the Metanoia Center – construction is underway!  In last months newsletter we shared about the increase in cost, due to current economic conditions, to complete Phase 1.   Around the time that last months newsletter was released a couple toured the buildings and then offered us a $100,000 no interest loan so that we could “get going now, rather than waiting as costs continue to rise”.   Since then our general contractor has been actively working on 113 N. Wayne Ave.   We are currently praying that we will meet our initial goal of acquiring occupancy in November of this year!

We are now focusing on funding to return the $100,000 no interest loan back to the couple who provided it, and funding for Phase 2 (the apartments) and Phase 3 and 4 – the medical clinic and the laundromat!    Donations, as always, can be made online or by mail (mail: Metanoia Center, Business Office, 316 Home Ave, Lockland, OH, 45215).

Pictured here is a recent photo where wall lines are drawn for the two new bathrooms and the storage room … as we await the “big dig” when the plumber arrives and begins chiseling up the concrete floor!
