Metanoia Center Updates

Metanoia Center has received a $75,000 donation from a local church partner.  As a result of this donation, the $50,000 summer challenge has been exceeded and we have enough funds to begin construction on Phase 2.  We have notified our general contractor to begin.

Since summer is not over, we continue to leave the summer challenge open for those who wish to participate in pushing the donation amount even higher so that we have more than sufficient funds to complete Phase 2 and to begin saving funds to pay back the $50,000 no-interest loan.

Donations can be made online at www.metanoiacenter.net.  You can also find out information about Phase 2 in detail online at the same address.

Here is where the funding has come from as of today’s date – August 9, 2023:

$50,000 no-interest loan
$75,000 single church donation
$26,950 other individual donations
Total Donations:  $151,950

New Interim Director

We’re excited to announce that Keith Ray has accepted the position of Interim Director with the Metanoia Center.  Keith is well known in the community by students, Lockland Schools, and others at the Metanoia Center.  He has been serving with us now for almost four years in a variety of capacities from the MC Club to tutoring and more.  You can often see Keith at the school, at the Metanoia Center, in the concession booth for sporting events at Lockland Schools, or around the neighborhood.

Update on CKC and Street Party

The annual summer kids’ camp, Crazy Kids Concoctions, and street party were once again a huge success.  Attendance for CKC was doubled from last year.  We were able to minister to over 50 kids during CKC.  The street party had an attendance of well over 300 people.  We would like to thank the deacons from Faith Bible for sponsoring the snow cone truck and the ice cream truck.  Both were a BIG hit.  Thanks also to Eddie for the live music performance.  We want to especially thank our leadership committee of Mark, Tony, Keith, and Lisa for all of their hard work in organizing and leading these activities.  We also want to thank all of the gift basket donors who provided gift baskets for the free drawings in the raffle.  Additionally, we would like to thank First Star Safety for their loan of street barriers, as well as the Village of Lockland for their help.

Volunteers Needed

We are looking forward to the restart of programs at the end of summer!! We have volunteer openings, in particular for our tutoring program on Tuesday afternoons, our MC Club on Thursday afternoons, and our English Language Class on Sunday afternoons.  Please reach out to us if you have an interest and we will get you connected.

Personal Updates

Update on Jim

We are posting updates through CaringBridge about our journey with ALS.  Please feel free to connect to CaringBridge in order to keep up to date with things that are happening.  You can find our page here.

We also want to thank everyone who has donated financially, giving of your time, and your perseverance in prayer.  We want to invite everybody to join us in the Walk to Defeat ALS Walk Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Winton Woods Park.  The walk starts at 11:00 a.m.  You can join Jim’s team by going here.  We would love to see you in person.  If you aren’t able to make it and would like to donate, please visit here.  This walk generates funds to be donated to the ALS Foundation of Southwest Ohio in order to help assist families walking through ALS in attaining resources.  We have already benefited from this walk through a $1,200 grant given to us in order to assist in the building of the ramp for our house.
