About Those Rocks

We thought it might happen sometime, and it finally did. A rock found its way through the plate glass window on the front of 115 N. Wayne Ave.!

We’ve had the glass company come out and remove the glass and now we have a little project we’re looking for help to complete. We want to have the sides of where the board is caulked in and painted before winter. If this is a project you would like to take on please reach out to us and let us know. Phyllis‘s phone number is 502-235-7005. We think this project would be a two day project, one day to caulk the edges in nice and tightly, and allow that to cure, and then the next day to paint a couple coats of paint.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed in all of the ministry areas of the Metanoia Center as we move into the fall. This includes our tutoring program as well as MC club and English language classes. For example, our English language class has exploded in numbers of students. Our most recent class had 120 students looking for help to learn English!

No special training is needed. We will provide all the resources for you. Please reach out to us to let us know if you’d like to be a part of this and we will get you in touch with the ministry leaders.

A couple weeks ago we sent an email about the huge growth and English language class students that we experienced. In that email we asked for help with things like water, tables and chairs and volunteers. And then the body of Christ responded! Thank you Faith Bible Church and Matthews Table for water!  Thank you Crestview Presbyterian Church for volunteering to provide snacks for tutoring classes and for your donation. Thank you Wyoming Baptist Church for the chairs. We are so grateful for the body of Christ and how it quickly responded.

And to top it off, Bud Jones, and Sons is coming to take care of a lingering tree stump on the back of the building, spruce up our shrubs and take care of some weed control around the building as well. You can connect with them at www.budjonesandsons.com.

The body of Christ in action is amazing. Thank you all so very very much.

Phase Two Update

We received our final estimate for phase 2. Our first estimate received in January of this year. Our second estimate just coming in shows an increase of only $3800. We’re very delighted with us. Construction is scheduled to begin on September 4.

We are continuing to receive donations to help cover the cost for phase 2. Pictured is a graphic showing our current status as the summer challenge has been surpassed.  Donations can be made online at www.metanoiacenter.net or my email to Metanoia Center, Business Office, 316 N. Home Ave., Lockland Ohio, 45215.

Prayer List

  • Praise God for continuing to provide donations towards our phase 2 project.
  • We’re thinking God for volunteers who are helping out with fall programs and immediate needs with our English language classes.
  • We are so grateful for the church, the body of Christ, please join us and thanking God for this.
  • Continue to pray for our new interim Director Keith Ray as he ramps up our programs for the fall.
  • Pray that our English language class teachers have opportunities to share the hope of Christ.

Update on Jim

Jim has just completed four weeks of occupational therapy. And next will begin several weeks of speech therapy. The therapy takes place at the University of Cincinnati Gardner neurological center downtown. This is an amazing organization that is extremely helpful and extremely caring!

The therapists at UC have introduced him to all kinds of technology. And have also indicated that there’s more technology to come as the disease progresses.

Course he continues to weaken, his muscles in his arms, stomach and legs and back. And it seems sometimes each day, or at least each week, presents us with new challenges for his care. Nights continue to play the greatest challenge with trying to sleep and get used to the breathing machine that he gets to use.  Speaking is becoming more of a challenge as well. This along with breathing challenges leave him pretty exhausted throughout the day.

By the way, you can keep up with us as we post things from time to time on caring bridge at the following link.
